CBD Found To Be Effective In Treating Anxiety Disorders

In a review of scientific literature by researchers from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, scientists found that studies “clearly suggest an anxiolytic-like effect of CBD.”

The primary mechanism by which CBD reduced anxiety was interacting with serotonin receptors, particularly the 5-HT1A receptor.

Serotonin is known to play a role in digestion, sleep, and especially mood. Deficiencies in serotonin have been implicated as the cause of some anxiety disorders. CBD’s ability to activate serotonin receptors suggests it can help improve mood and reduce anxiety.

In another small study, researchers had patients suffering from Social Anxiety Disorder perform a public speaking test. Participants reported significantly less anxiety, with findings supported by anxiety indicators like heart rate and blood pressure.

Of the 57 volunteers, 15 took 150mg of CBD, 15 took 300mg of CBD, 12 took 600mg of CBD, and the remaining 15 were given the placebo.

Data was measured by volunteers completing the Visual Analogue Mood Scale assessment while blood pressure and heart rate were also recorded.

The results showed that the dose of 300mg of CBD provided a significant decrease in anxiety compared to placebo, while none of the other doses were statistically significant.

Researchers concluded, “CBD significantly reduced anxiety, cognitive impairment and discomfort in their speech performance”.

Actress Kristen Bell, known for her role on TV series “Veronica Mars,” uses CBD oil daily for her anxiety. She said she “really believes” in the healing properties of CBD and encouraged people to be

Not All CBD is Created Equally

This is very relevant as CBD is not yet FDA regulated. The FDA does tests on CBD products for sale online and publicly release warning letters to those companies who have failed to meet their claims.
